Stay in the River
There is a saying on my prayer board that has been there for the last 5 years. It's instruction the Lord gave me in prayer, and I think it's time to share it.
He said - "Stay in the Spirit, What I show you to do will not make sense in the natural."
I had no idea how true that statement would be then, and I have a feeling I haven't even seen the tip of the iceberg as far as God's concerned.
God gives us, His kids, specific instruction and they often do not make logical sense.
Whether He tells you to go pray over someone on your child's field trip to the Pumpkin Patch (like he did to me the other day...) or he asks you to buy coffee for the person behind you (even though you barely have enough money to cover your drink...) or he asks you to write new blueprints for a business, or non profit and you have no idea where to start -- His plans and instruction surpass our logic and press us forward into faith.
The kicker though, is staying in the Spirit so that we can number 1 hear the instruction of the Lord, but 2- that we will act on it.
Can you imagine how many dreams, business ideas, non profit plans, church plants and the like are buried with people in graveyards? How many voices could cry out from eternity wishing for more time, wishing they would have actually believed the word of the Lord over their life.
It's one thing to believe the Word of God, but if you don't believe that it applies to your life it is wasted.
So do the thing.
But stay in the River.
Stay fully submerged in the Spirit of God - listening to his leading only.
His voice will never contradict His word, and His instruction will bring Glory to His name.
Sure - the river may get rough at times but Jesus is good at walking on the water.
Of course you only have a little bit of bread and fish - but God is good at taking our little and turning it into much.
All he's looking for is your surrender and you obedience.
But once you step out -- stay in the river.
The spirit will lead you to some wild places, you will stand amazed at his hand over your life when you lean into his instruction.
but trust me -- it wont be logical.
