Called & Confused?

I wish I had a dollar for everytime I heard a well meaning Child of God say they were confused about their calling.

I have linked a few Bible verses below for you to check out and I want you to understand a few basic things..

1. God wastes nothing.

If you are breathing, God has a work for you to do. Whether it is within the walls of your home, in the marketplace or in ministry God gets the glory when we have Him at the center. Do not allow the enemy to convince you that God cannot use you exactly where you are - because he most certainly can.

2. We all share the same call,

"The Great Commission". This is instruction given by Jesus himself telling us to -- Go into all the world and preach the Gospel (see Matthew 28 linked above). No matter the field we find ourselves in we should live to make His name great. We should be carriers of the Good News. When we do that, the ripple effect of evangelism effects everything that we touch.

3. We are a part of the Body of Christ - And we all need eachother

Just as the hand cannot tell the brain it doesn't need it, one part of the ministry cannot look at the other and say it isn't needed, or even that it is more valuable. Humble yourself and be wiling to interlock arms with believers around you to accomplish the work of God on the Earth.

4. Many Gifts, One Giver.

The Bible tells us that he gives His body different gifts to be used to bring His people closer to Him. These gifts are: wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues. Romans 12 also speaks of gifts like prophesying, serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, leadership, and mercy.

What gifts do you feel you have to offer to the body of Christ? How can you offer these in the season that you are in?

5. The 5-Fold Ministry (a fancy way of explaining the organizational structure God gives those he chooses to mantle with ministry leadership) The list of the five-fold is as follows- apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds (aka- Pastors), and teachers.

Have you ever felt God pulling you to a lane in the 5-Fold Ministry? Which One? What does that mean to you? How does God define it?

Whew -- That was a big list of basics but I hope you have a broad understanding of the multiple ways that God calls us to witness and win the world.

Now, knowing all of this how can you make this personal before the Lord in a prayer regarding your calling? It does us no good to simply collect information if we refuse to apply it. Take these revelations and scriptures and make them personal. Write out the petitions, questions and declarations deep within your spirit and approach the throne of grace bodly.

PS - Don't be afraid to start somewhere! It is very hard to drive a parked car, but much easier to turn around an already driving car if it's going the wrong direction.
